The only way to do it was to get Suntour's cassette with the 11-13 first two cogs (I think it was even a mountain bike hub). Everyone else had 12-13 first two cogs, no one had a 12T second cog.

Of course one of my teammates had the 11-13 first two gears on his White Lightning.

I think Steve Bauer used the hub and 11T in the Tour when racing for... Weinmann? White kit, he was TTing in the rain, huge gear (the 11T). Maybe he raced for 7-Eleven and had the white jersey? I forget.
