Wooops! Never mind... I got the bike home and darn it, I was right the first time, the wheels are 26 x 1/3/8! The guy at the bike shop who gave it to me insisted up and down that they were 28". I kept saying are you sure, they look like 26 x 1/38. I eventually fell for it...until I compared it to all the other bikes in our mud room. I wish bike shop guys would admit they don't know sometimes... Good thing I said I'd think about it when he said he would order some tires for it.
I feel dumb. But I do have to take a look at the bike for a year. Bronze green popped up in 1967 and in 1974.

So, any ideas on whether I should switch to 650B or 700c? or try find new 26 X 1/38th rims and tires?
