In the end, neither worked that well for me and I had fond memories of my Shimano. When I got my CaadX a few months back I got it with Shimano and confirmed my preference for Shimano. I now have a black 2012 Caad 10 105 that I got new in the box and immediately striped everything off of it. The new 105 stuff went on my crit bike that has seen a couple races. No complaints. The new Caad 10 gets, new 7900 all the way around, HG cranks, 3t cockpit/post, Yokozuna cables, and an array of wheels I swap between bikes. The only thing original is the frame, fork, and headset. It's currently about 50% built, hope to have it done this week to join the "in" crowd.
