I can climb and keep up (my training partners are between 5'9" and 6'1" and none above 155) with most, I just cannot attack unless it is a long sustained power climb. I was on a ride (simulated race) with a group one day and was a little frisky so on the major climb of the day when the climbers went I went and all i heard from the group was "you have to be kidding me, you're a sprinter not a climber" and didn't see them again until the regroup spot. The difference is though I am a typecast as a sprinter I am a rider with credentials (not trying to sound arrogant) and have raced a bunch. I was to have gone and raced for a Belgian team but got hit by a car and lost my chance. The fundamental difference is I have a lot of miles in my legs, watch my nutrition and understand my body and how to suffer long enough to get myself to where I am comfortable. Now that being said in a true road race with a hilltop finish I am in trouble if I am against a 135-145 pound P/1 but that is not my focus so I will stay away from that type of race.

If that were my focus I would have dieted back down to 170 (my lightest race weight was 156) and climb like a goat all day long, but this is just a hobby (I wish more would realize this) and I have other things that I like to do (obviously the gym is one of them).
