When I'm climbing stuff in the 15%-18% range on the road, sometimes it pays to just NOT look up. Because you psych yourself out that way. Look 20 feet ahead and just keep at it.
There might be a black Mirage road triple (NOS with a 52-42-30, I believe) lurking down at Ye Olde LBSe if you're interested. It should go on a spindle with a Campy-spec taper, so you'd need one of those too. All things considered, a Sugino GT or AT, or an old Shimano XT or Specialized 110/74, makes the most sense if you want a vintage look with forward servicability, I think. Easy to get rings, easy to get BBs.
