First outdoor 2012 ride

Yesterday morning I was feeling a little blawsy, but I "showed up" at the Y and did a partial workout. As the day went on I felt better and better. As the weather here was just above 50 I decided to actually ride a real bike. I hate cold weather and it takes a lot longer for me to warmup. So off I go spining easy and thinking I should have moved the clipless pedals onto the roadbike. I've gotten used to them in the 18 hours of trainer riding I've done with them.

So a couple miles away I grab a few gears and was still distracted about my feet squirming around the pedals. Maybe I should buy another set? Saw a neighbor out walking and talked to her (scared the sh-- out of her as she was wearing headphones) and then decided to pickup the pace.

By now my legs were ok but the wind was going right thru my jersey. Should have worn a windbreaker... duh. Anyway it's back to home riding into a 15 mph wind and I'm cold but not too bad.

So I get home and the ride data downloads to the computer. Average speed .2 mph slower than my best speed last year. It was only just under a 10 mile ride. I won't say what the speed was as I'm still slow compared to what most report here, but I think mediocrity is within my grasp this year.
