I don't know how many here are into dragon boat racing but one of the first makers of carbon fiber oars is by a company called BurnWater, started by a college friend of mine. He originally out sourced his production to China. Originally he was drawn to China by the low production costs but due to ongoing quality issues and having to travel there continually to resolve production issues, he decided to move production back to the States. Although production costs aren't as low as from the Chinese supplier, his current supplier's quality is better and easier to manage.
