Finished 1Q84 recently. Didn't think it was one of Murakami's best. Seems like it needed an editor, longer than it needed to be and lacked the freshness in writing of his better stuff. Could have been a better book if they had tightened it up .

Also the new Neal Stephenson Reamde thoroughly enjoyable but lacking the inventiveness of Snow Crash or Cryptonomicon also longer than it needed to be.

Distrust that Particular Flavor- William Gibson's non-fiction collection was really good. Elaborates on some of the interesting quirky stuff that makes it into the novels. Reminded me why I like him.
