100% correct. And the OP should NOT start using all kinds of oils, grease etc. to soften the saddle.

A LEATHER SADDLE IS SUPPOSED TO BE HARD!!!! (Though not stone hard, but they never are, really)

The angle may be wrong, or it may be too narrow, or both. Those are the two possible reasons for problems with a new saddle of decent quality.
