I retrofitted the internals of a small planet bike single led headlight and installed a push on/off switch on the side. It works quite well. Takes one aa battery. In a year and a half of use including in heavy rain, not a single flicker. Works solid. When i decided i would commute year-round on this bike and needed something brighter, i splurged on dynamo lighting and expensive german lights.
