One of my clients invited me to their midweek happy hour yesterday, so I clocked out at 3pm and rode my beloved fixie over to the Emeryville marina. One of the folks at the company has a dad who owns a boat, so we sat on said boat and snacked and drank mojitos. I brought some of my homemade goat cheese, which everyone liked and gobbled up instantly! That's a big compliment, especially since it was my first time making chevre.
It was pleasantly cool on the water. We went for a brief spin out onto the bay too. Then I got to ride my bike home. It was one of those days when my gearing felt high--this weird mental flinch, a desire to shift down--but I just pedaled through it and got rolling. Unfortunately (apologies, negativity content) my cool-looking handlebar setup is really not suitable for anything but looking at. Nevertheless i had a good, strong, sweaty ride home and when I got home Holly was cooking up a spinach+greens quiche that was one of the best ever. Buckwheat crust!
That sunday night bike dinner is a great idea!
