I knocked down the saturation of the site's green tint, and modified the gradient to match. The buttons and the Raleigh image remain unchanged for the moment (I'll get to those once I'm happy with this layout).

ALT and Title tags have been added to the buttons. I'd do them as text, but I'm too lazy to give them CSS centering properties

I'd say it's an improvement - for the meantime - wouldn't you?
