I was waiting for my Gilles Berthoud Galibier saddle to arrive when I started thinking of what feed it. My co-worker offered me some of his Proofide......but dang, I just could not resist keeping it all French and went ahead and bought a tin of Berthoud's own saddle wax at smething like 9 bucks at one shop I found in the net. The stuff was absorbed really nicely at the bottom and top surfaces of the leather. Not greasy at all and there no residue sitting on the surface after you buff it off. I can already feel some suppleness developing at the sitbone area of my saddle just a couple of days after applying the wax. I like it so much that I'm thinking maybe I'll try it on one of my nice shoes one day.
So if one might not mind putting a little French stuff on their English, Chinese Japanese or Indian made saddles, I think Berthoud's wax is pretty good.
