definitely go used to start. since he's only 10, he's going to outgrow frames/cranks/wheels for the next few years. see if anyone is selling anything at the track or lbs to get started. Find something that he's comfortable on that also fits your budget. since he's just getting into it, you don't want to sink too much money in.
