It doesn't sound like you're a parent, because it doesn't sound like you have an understanding of what happens in that type of situation. If someone hurts one of your kids out of negligence, your blood is already going to be boiling. The next thing out of their mouth better be, "I'm sorry". I can't say I would have done anything differently. It may not be rational, it may not be humane, but that's the way it is. You admitted yourself you acted irrationally after you were injured, but you can't understand how someone might act irrationally when placed in a highly emotional situation.
