In the A&S Forum area? HAHAHAhahahahaha!
The most risky thing I noticed was not your fault. Riding a low trike into the sun on the horizon using the center lane with three lanes of traffic overtaking passing you is always risky, but I realize the editing speed made the risk look worse than it was. Many cyclists in my town are run down in the first or last minutes of the day where the sun is very low and motorists are blinded. Less of a problem now since most drivers are looking at their phones, not through the windshield anyway (joke...sort of).
Some questions, if you get time. Some were already addressed in the post I know.
Are the roads as smooth as they look?
Was there a ton of horn blowing behind you?
What was your actual speed in kilometers/hr and what are the speed limits for motor vehicles?
Is there a network of low speed surface streets that do not look like major highways? Are they more dangerous or just slower going?
Are there any holidays, or weekdays (like Sundays in the USA) when everyone sleeps in and the roads in big cities are clear in the morning?
How hot does it get in Riyadh?
I split lanes all the time too. My riding rule is pretty simple - If I can go, I go. I live in a very hot and humid climate where stopping between hot motors, under a scorching sun, blocked from any breeze, with car exhaust swirling around my head is out of the question - unless I want heat stroke every day and worse lungs than I deserve. I tend to ride fast so stopping in direct sunlight after three blocks of sprinting to keep up with traffic is simply more deadly than splitting lanes to keep moving. Also, if I did not split lanes I would suck in exhaust for half an hour instead of five minutes.
Thanks for posting the vid. It would be nice to get English subtitles, but I know how tedious it is to make one video.
