From a purely cosmetic aspect I hope they don't bring discs to road. I can't see it looking very appealing. Also for those of you going on about brake fade etc. look at it this way. There are companies out there that make brakes to shut down race cars/supercars. If they can stop a 258 mph road car I'm sure someone will come up with a solution for a 15lb bicycle.
I have read the article at bike rumor, and the problem was not to stop the bicycle, but to make it slower on the loooooong step downhill to manageable speed. These are two different tasks.
