I think the labor is worth about $30 (you shouldn't assume about that sort of thing). With parts, $50-$60 total. Seems reasonable to me, both for the shop and customer. That's what I'm not getting about this argument.

The shop isn't out to scam OP. They probably just don't stock low end parts.
