Paulzinho, very nice TrailRunner! Good shape too! It is a TrailRunner of course, no RidgeRunner. The RidgeRunner for 1990 was a blue/white steel bike.
Chuckk, a nice Elevation 5,000 it is. It is a great frame and I like the paintscheme Miyata choose for it.
My Miyata Team is derived from Chuckk's 1991 Elevation 5,000. It was a special edition issued to celebrate Greg Herbold's 1990 UCI Downhill world title. Greg raced to the title on a 1990 RidgeRunner with Rock Shox RS-1, Tioga discwheel, white Onza Porcs and so on.
Chuck's and my bike differ in a couple details from Paul's earlier TrailRunner. That is because Chuck's and mine are the final evolution of the Miyata's early bonded & bolted MTB frame design. The differences:
- oversized 1-1/8" headttube, instead of 1"
- 73mm wide BB shell, instead of 68mm
- toptube shift cable routing, instead of under bracket
- tapered seat- and chainstays
- slimmer drop outs
- bolted on brake bridge and canti bosses, instead of welded
- machined out BB-yoke with integrated chain suck teeth
For 1992 a whole new design was issued. That is the design like the blue frame I posted earlier, in post #311.
