Good subject, good post.

I'm working the same questions for a Masi from some between late 75 and mid-'77. I'm going with mostly Campy NR.

But it came to me with DuraAce brakes which look like Campy. I could replace them with Campy, but it would be a major expense for cosmetics only. I'm using Suntour Mk 1 Cyclone (GT rear) derailleurs to handle a 14-32 freewheel.

Question: Are you sure your frame needs painting? It will be original only once. (We seem to say that a lot here in C&V.) It's just that yours looks pretty nice in that pic, even if not showroom condition.

For comparison - What advice do you folks have about paint for this?
Not to hijack the thread, but this is along the same subject.

I'm torn about how far to go. It has no decals. It was rattle-canned. At least one spot on the seat lug was then sandpapered. So there is no question about maintaining patina.

I want a bike that looks nice, but not necessarily a total restoration. Masis typically had the lug cutouts painted an offsetting color, often yellow. Decals were numerous and colorful. Would that be over-the-top, I wonder?
