I agree. I have a 1978 leather suspended saddle (looks like a Brooks Pro, but may be some other brand). Except for cracking on the leather it is just as slipperly as my new Brooks, at least relative to other saddles I've used.

The sliding forward problem I have is not so much the slipperiness, but the slight down angle the rear part of the saddle, even when the nose is level to slighly up pointed. So I pedal aways and find myself sliding forward, then pushing myself back. When I had a Fizik Arione saddle on this bike I didn't get this effect - I felt I could stay in a comfortable steady state powerful position, or slide forward for burst of power.
