The Roubaix is one of the most comfortable frames ever made. I bought it thinking I'd go with dropped handlebars, but the normal ones were too narrow. I tried wider drop bars and they still didn't feel right - I really didn't like having my hands so close together and I'd never use the dropped position - problems not only caused by my belly, but also by a lifetime of lifting weights. So we put on flat bars with mountain bike extension grips - I still have about 3 useful positions for my hands.

As for the gearing, I now have some of the lowest gearing possible and as I make my way uphill at my weight, I'm thankful for every tooth less that my granny gear has.

My bike shop put a lot of time into this bike and it's worked for over 1000 miles now, so they did something right.
