Thanks for all the great info everyone. I did have a chance to speak with the seller today. The basic story goes that his shop sold the bike to a customer back in 87' and picked out all the components to create a custom setup. That customer took great care of it through the years and kept it mostly original besides updating the rims/spokes/tires, chain and freewheel and sold it back to the shop recently.
He says the single owner never re-painted the bike and that's why the wear patterns are visible on the frame. He mentioned it was purchased through his distributor, Gita Sporting Goods, and that perhaps this was their paint scheme. As @T-Mar mentioned above i guess the importer sometimes created their own paint schemes. I'm trying to connect with Gita to see if they have any info to share since i'm curious about it's history.
The serial number is mm219. I can't seem to track down any serial # info online to decode it but if anyone knows the code please let me know. It's interesting that a similar look is presented in the 89' catalog but as @conspiratemus1 mentioned it doesn't look that clean and spaced out.
I won't receive the bike for another week or so but i'm looking forward to riding it and taking care of it. Thanks again for all the great input.
