I have a Burley trailer that I use with my kids. You might want to check out Burley's forged aluminum attachments that the quick release wheel axle/lever goes through. Here is a link to one.

Then you run a C clip/lock pin 1/4x2 lock pin through it.

So your trailer would have to have attachment points with a hole in it for the C clip lock pin to go through. Seeing the link above you might be able to use reinforced hose??

Just trying to help, I don't know if you would have access to Burley parts in Georgia but a machine shop with a CNC could make you something similar in no time.
