If you are using wd-40 as the lube, there is a lot wrong. WD-40 is a water displacement/solvent cleaner, it isn't a lasting lubricant. Use a real lubricant that isn't a solvent.
Using WD40 will just make your chain clean and lubed for a very short bit then it will dry out.
