I just bought ordered one of these this morning as a device that will charge my iPhone from alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Will report more when I get it and try it out.

It is also a charger if I have AC to recharge the batteries and also a direct AC charger for the phone. The fact that it works with alkaline batteries ether 2 or 4 was appealing to me as they are available everyplace I will be going to, and have long shelf life. Being able to supplement a set of NMH into the mix is a plus. Everything is set up around AA cells and my bike lighting uses 4 AA also. The whole thing is pretty light. My good camera that I sometimes pack also uses 4 AA.
I have a bunch of these USB lights I get for a buck at dollar tree.

I guess plugging one of these in the backup Tekkeon would make a nice lamp for cooking or reading as they bend and stay put, and would be enough light in the tent. If I do wire job inside I would use a fine multi strand flex wire and just a USB plug on the end. I was looking at how my LL Bean hat was wired.

Wire plugs and LED’s shouldn’t add as much weight as one AA battery to my burden I know I could easily remove a lot more weight than that from my seat post by skipping a few meals.
Thanks for the comments.
