Okay, in 7 years of commuting in Manhattan here's the best I can do:
Last Friday, riding down 9th Ave just south of Port Authority, a big black bus passed me much too close and then moved even closer to stopped cars so I couldn't squeeze between them. I went around the stopped car and tapped on the bus driver's window. He rolled it down, and I said, very politely, "a little courtesy, please?" He suggested I use the bike lane. I pointed out there wasn't one, so I was using the street and should be treated as a car. He said, "if you get in front of me, I'll kill you" and rolled his window up again.
