In fact, I road it a couple more times (slowly) to the train station. If I pedaled hard at all, the whole bike felt like a spring. Groovy.
I retired it shortly thereafter.
I think that a crack at that spot is just about the only place where I would ( slowly ) continue riding the frame for a little while afterwards.
