There are a few things I know about myself. I do not have the alcoholism gene. I do not want to give up alcohol totally. And, I have a strange relationship with alcohol. At least I think it's strange. I can go a month or months without wanting wine. But, if I do want some I have no problem drinking a bottle of Pinot Noir during an evening. If I go out it's almost always beer and I love the different beers I encounter. But, at home it's uncommon to want a beer. OTOH, cognac or Irish Whiskey I will have almost anytime....mostly the cognac. From dawn to dinner I almost never have a taste for alcohol. Unless I have lunch at the local tavern. My "solution" is the 300 calories rule.
