FWIW The GT is not a race. I've done it 5-6 times. If he had a record it was some unofficial thing. 10:25 is ok time on the lowland route. It'd be more impressive on the highland route though I don't know if they had that distinction back in 67. I have friends who've done the lowland double in the 8:45 on a tandem. It is nice to know he does have some experience in longer rides.
