To save a lot of work buffing there was a thread awhile back that suggests using spray on oven cleaner to remove the factory anodizing and I've tried it, works with little effort. Just spray on and leave for awhile and rinse off.
Trying to get this anodizing off with the buffing wheel is a lot of hard work. I found this out the hard way.
