Bikes: 2008 Giant TCR Advanced

Hair Gel: I dont plan to go military-style. The ladies love it long and I love the ladies. I'll have to figure this out in the coming weeks. This is no longer as accute a concern as I thought.

Lock: Crap. I thought I had an empty bike rack all to myself, but noticed 5 locks on it. I assumed stolen bikes, but now realize fellow commuters are just holding their parking spot. Is first come-first-served commuting etiquete or should common respect be paid for "claiming" your spot on the rack? I may go find a few more locks to have and have a common key for them. Great idea of not carring a 3 pound lock.

Rain: Riding to work in wool slacks and startched shirt is possible. Even keeping sweat production to a minimum over 1.9 miles. But I cant avoid rain and my 2 bikes are not full fender adaptable. My third bike ('89 or '90 Schwinn MesaRunner) is at my parent's vacation house and will take a month to get here and be properly set-up for commuting. For now, it will be dry weather commuting only.

Warm weather commuting: I'll have to join the gym to have access to showers, change room, locker. This will eliminte some of the savings, but I'll be happy if this is a break-even scenario.

Status: So far it's been a very rainy week in Atlanta but Friday may be the day I join the ranks of bike commuters. I'll be purcahing a rack and commuting bag/panniers (no plans for a messanger bag for commuting) this weekend. REI seems to have the best availabity of the online places I frequent. Any LBS shops in Atlanta I should check out? online recommendation? Performance and Outback seem to have limited supply of rack, bags etc.
