It made an impact on me, at least. I started cycle commuting almost a year ago (2 weeks to go!). The primary reason was a past due car inspection - $1200 to get the car repaired and back on the road. But I remembered the gas prices back in '08 and was watching them slowly tick upwards again. I didn't like it, so got me thinking about simply ditching the car. I found this site last January and after a couple months of reading that's exactly what I did. I have no plans to buy another car any time soon.

I've been one of the few cyclists on the commute this winter, but I'll be surprised if I can say the same thing again 5 years down the road.
