No big deal! Why would you even be riding a bike with a cracked chainstay? If you're homeless or don't have a vehicle or means to get around, that's one thing. But assuming you're not, I can't think of a single reason to do something like that. Even if it just means something happens and the bike isn't ridable, you're stranded.
