ARE LIGHTER BIKES FASTER?
Bill McCready, a cyclist and builder of tandems (for more than half a century), will be giving a presentation on bike manufacturing and performance at Cupertino Bike Shop, March 5th from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. His presentation starts with a demonstration of Santana’s frame efficiency testing device. Designed in Germany by Manfred **** of EFB Prüftechnik, Similar “Otto” frame testing devices are being used by leading builders and Tour de France teams to determine a frame’s relative efficiency. What do the results suggest? Is there an emerging technology for frame design that’s more important than weight, stiffness or aerodynamics?
