FWIW I've used both types of wheels. My SLRs are my daily wheels and race wheels, and I've never had any issues with them. Still true as the day I got them ($900 on bonktown!). I ride them on windy and non-windy days, and my 140lbs is able to manage the bike. That said, I used to have a set os Psimet customs (WI hubs, Kinlin 27 rims) and those were great too. Either set should work well. Good luck.
