The prevalent theory for RAAM racers isn't mega mileage, it's more quality over quantity. You build your speed up so that when you race you can ride at a higher sustained speed over a longer distance without getting anywhere near your red zone. If your goal is to do it some day, this year is better than next because next year you'll be a year older!
Homeyba, congratulations on doing RAAM 4 times, what years did you do the RAAM? Do you have plans to do any more?
