I have been looking on E-Bay for a used bike at a sensible price.

I am not kidding when I say that the prices bikes are going for is astronomical. Way above what I would pay.

As an example- I bought a Giant SCR3 in 2006. This in the UK was the replacement for the "Old" style OCR and is in fact your new style OCR. I paid £400 for it new but did get a bit of discount. A 2004 OCR3 has just fetched £365. Similar amounts are being fetched for any old Bike that people recognise the name of.

I know you have to take into account the market that people will pay- but This is what people are offering for old bikes that are probably well used.
