I'm thinking that what you're doing is the hard way.
Just do it. Since you already own the parts, you have nothing to lose. Bolt them up and try it for yourself. Should take maybe an hour and you'll know FOR SURE whether or not you can make it work to your satisfaction.
Even if it doesn't work the effort won't have been wasted because you'll be smarter.
