Imagine you have arrived in a part of the country you have never visited before. You have your bike and you wish to do some sight seeing by bike. You know of some local places that you are anxious to see and you're open to seeing even more. You hire a local guide to ride with you and show you the sights.

They need to have a sufficiently wide spectrum of knowledge that they can suggest sights/etc that are relevant to my interests. I.E., I love museums of all types, so they need to have a good handle on the local ones, a good sense of how long it takes to ride to them, good routes to get there, etc.
They have to be interesting. There's nothing more annoying than a guide who is clearly just putting in time and reciting a pre-written spiel.
