Bikes: Rodriguez Shiftless street fixie with S&S couplers, Kuwahara tandem, Trek carbon, Dolan track

Yes, I like the idea of upgrading incrementally!

I think I've only bought an N+1 two or three times in my 40-year cycling career - my first couple of bikes back in the early 70's, and a cf Trek I bought with the insurance money when the previous cf Trek had been stolen - but I guess that's not really N+1.

Instead, my preference has always been for N+0.1 or thereabouts. I just upgrade components. Or I guess N+0.5 could be getting a new frame and then moving the current components over to the new frame. My current bike uses two sets of components: the hbar, stem, brake levers, and brakes get switched over from winter to summer. Any uprades get put on the summer configuration, and the summer stuff gets moved over to the winter config. Eventually I guess I'll have Campag Super Record in the summer and Record in the winter! (right now I'm at Chorus with Record levers for the summer!).
