Look around for a doc that does multi-focal implant lenses. ReStor is one brand. A bit more expensive up front but they pay off with not needing any glasses for anything. Haven't met anyone yet who was unhappy with them.

Oh yes, sooner than later for the first eye. Get the second eye done as soon after that as the doc will do it. At the elder age there is no time to waste on poor vision.
