It depends on the riders coming the other way. If it's a family with kids or someone who is obviously new to the game, I will do whatever is necessary to accommodate them, including stopping or riding off the roadway (where possible). If it is experienced riders, then my darker side will often emerge and I'll just hold my line on my side of the road. Like CBHI, I'm likely a lot more comfortable with a close pass than they are and a lot more capable of dealing with a bit of contact. Also, my steel bike is readily repairable, unlike their plastic ones. Sadly, I actually enjoy the look of panic on their faces when they realize things are getting hairy.
+1 Kids get a pass, you don't want to scare them away from riding. I'll stop for adults too, but I'll just stop in the part of the mup I was riding in any way. This makes them realise that they will hit me, and make them move over, usually with a sheepish 'sorry'.
