flats caused by heat?

ok, so during my morning ride this morning i got three flats within half an hour. fixed the first one with my replacement tube, then three minutes down the road i had a blow out. luckily there is an lbs nearby. i stop in, buy a new tube, change the flat, this time i clean out the inside of the tire and the rim, checking for anything that might cause a flat, nothing. i tell the chaps at the bike shop and they say its cause of the heat, i reduced the tire pressure by ten and then low and behold, another blow out down the road.

was it the heat? or?
