Bikes: too many bikes from 1967 10s (5x2)Frejus to a Sumitomo Ti/Chorus aluminum 10s (10x2), plus one non-susp mtn bike I use as my commuter

ProGold is an oil solvent blend and it's important that you give it a while - say overnight - for the solvent component to evaporate and the remaining oil to thicken.

Factory lube is a thicker oil or grease that's applied hot (or to the parts during assembly), and that method of application allows for a much more durable kind of lubricant. The nearest things to factory lube that can be applied after the fact are Phil Tenacious, and Chain-L (cheap plug here, consider the source, or read reviews). Both of these are heavier oils and will make your chain run much quieter, plus last longer between applications.
