How often do you use your cold weather gear? Is it worth it, esp considering that I am losing weight as I ride, so it will likely only fit for a year tops?
Probably depends on your weather and level of cold tolerance. I find that layers - even in moderate temps - is the way to do. Went out a few days ago in near 70 temps and wore a LS wool base layer and short sleeve jersey. Was very comfortable. However, I find that almost never wear my LS polyester jerseys anymore. For cold weather I'm wearing wool layers and a wind jacket. In moderate temps the LS winter-type poly is too warm but SS isn't warm enough so use the wool base layers.
However, a nice pair of tights or two (lighter and heavier ones) is invaluable for cool/cold weather. Not so much in 70s and warmer.
