Understanding the failings of broad generalizations I think "more afraid" is accurate. Sometimes more afraid is the smarter choice, sometimes its not. Cycling on the road is a good example. Avoiding responsible road riding or climbing hills because of perceived risk is NOT smarter or safer IMO.
