I enjoyed reading that thread. Looking forward to seeing the finshed results. I think Specialized had something similar in mind with the Rockhopper. It has rack and fender eyelets on front and rear dropouts. The rear brake bridge and chainstay bridge also have threaded eyelets for adding fenders. It's cool how well thought out the bikes from these companies were back then regarding versatility. Touring, Mountain, Commuting

Seriously, that pie plate is like 12 ounces of needless wieght. Good suggestion on the Paselas, I may go with those later.
