Since your only riding with a max of 30 pounds your fine with most of that on the rear. It would be the same thing if you weighed 30 pounds more! The bike will handle it just fine. Fully loaded touring you would divide the weight 60% on the rear and 40% on the front, but then you would be hauling 60 to 75 pounds of stuff.

I don't know how long your going to be touring for, but the last time I went CC touring all I had was a large handlebar bag and a saddle bag for a 3 day trip, I think I was carrying about 10 pounds of stuff but I never bothered to weigh it.

And yes touring at age 60 and beyond is more then doable. I ran into a 65 year old retired school teacher from Portland OR touring across the USA by HERSELF. She was doing a fully loaded tour. The interesting thing about her was she had never did any kind of physical prepration before hand, nor was she a runner or a cyclist, she just one day decide to do a tour on a bike and prepared for just 3 weeks. I ran into her here in Fort Wayne IN and she was loving it.
