First things first. Does it fit you? That's most important thing. It's a pretty small bike, and road bikes are pretty much like shoes, if they don't fit they'll hurt! I don't know how tall you are, but it's a bit on the small side for most men.
Secondly, if you want to ride it as a road bike, you have to be prepared to find bars, brake levers and possibly cables to replace the parts on it now. I don't know how mechanically inclined you are, these are easy jobs you can do with a set of hex keys.
all these things aside, you can do worse than a Basso gap: they're good quality Italian bikes and certainly look the part! 105 has been a solid seller of the past decades because it offers a good balance between cost and function, perfect for a first bike.
